“Cowboy” Cerrone Replaces Sam Stout at UFC 137

By FCF Staff

Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone will look to further his position in the UFC lightweight rankings on October 29th, as the promotion has announced today that the Jackson’s MMA fighter has agreed to step in for Sam Stout and face contender Dennis Siver.

The UFC confirmed the switch on its official website. Although no explanation was offered as to why Stout has withdrawn from the UFC 137 card, the Canadian’s longtime trainer, friend and brother-in-law Shawn Tompkins recently passed away.

Cerrone (pictured) continues to impress since the lightweight came over to the UFC after the WEC merger. On August 14th, the 16-3 fighter stopped Charles Oliveira in the first round to record his third Octagon win, a run which includes victories over Paul Kelly and Vagner Rocha.

Siver (19-7) has also been making moves in the lightweight division, as the German fighter has now won four straight fights. Most recently, at UFC 132 in July, Siver worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Matt Wiman, after scoring a UD victory over George Sotiropoulos in February.

UFC 137 will be hosted by the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, and will feature a welterweight bout between champion Georges St. Pierre and Nick Diaz in the main event.
