559 Fights Reaches New Milestone With Saturday’s Event at Rainbow Ballroom in Fresno

By Press Release

SELMA, Calif. – 559 Fights will celebrate it’s Diamond Anniversary event Saturday at the Rainbow Ballroom in Fresno.
“Our 75th event is going to be a special one. We themed this event around our fans and let them select the main event,” said 559 Fights President Jeremy Luchau. “It’s always fun when you can have interactive events and get the fans involved.”

Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the first fight is at 7. Tickets start at $25 and are available at the Rainbow Ballroom box office or online at www.559fights.com.

“The fans chose a bantamweight fight between Michael Gomez and Damen Cabanas as our main event and we also will have an exciting 559 Fights Lightweight Title Fight in our co-main event,” Luchau added. “It’s another big
night of action featuring fighters throughout the state and some exciting grappling matches.”

Merced’s Gomez (1-2) faces 559 Fights’ newcomer Cabanas (0-2) of Manteca and in the co-main Victorville lightweight Aryion Young (8-3) takes on Sacramento’sJulius Wright (5-2) for the recently vacated lightweight championship.

Also in action, Merced welterweight Jaime Llamas-Trevion (1-0) makes his return against Visalia’s Jonathan Moskowitz (2-1) and Fresno’s Steven Knoblauch makes his debut against La Mesa featherweight Gordon Walsh.

“I think the Llamas vs. Moskowitz bout is going to tell us a lot about the future of the welterweight division at 559 Fights,” Luchau said. “And everyone has been talking about Knoblauch’s first MMA bout. He’s a coach at Red Wave, a local youth wrestling powerhouse, and their club is becoming a big supporter of our events.”

Another potential key showdown happens at lightweight when Riverside’s Sergio Guerrero (2-0) takes on Fresno lightweight Dwight Brown (2-2).

“I also have my eye on the Guerrero vs. Brown bout,” Luchau added.

In other bouts; Sanger lightweight Anthony Mata (0-1) takes on Visalia’s Jonathan Vorhies (0-0), Bakersfield bantamweight Arturo Burgos (0-1) fights San Diego’s Leonard Oshiro (1-2), Fresno lightweight Marlon Watkins (1-5) battles Visalia’s Mark Hernandez (1-2), Madera light heavyweight Eduardo Mercado (1-0) takes on Bakersfield’s Adrian Silva (1-2), Fowler bantamweight Sebastian Gomez (0-1) fights Poway’s Ethan Stanton (0-0), Fresno middleweight Alejandro Mares (0-0) makes his debut against Dos Palos’ Leo Jimenez (0-0), and Fresno heavyweight Brian Kelly (0-0) makes his debut against Ridgecrest’s Theartris Eaton (0-0).
