FCF would like to wish you all a very happy and safe Independence Day

UPDATE…
NEWLYWEDS TITO AND KRISTIN ORTIZ
ON THE MEND AFTER BEING HIT BY BUS!

By Joel Gold

Tito Ortiz
UFC middleweight champ Tito Ortiz on the second day of his honeymoon in Bermuda was struck by a bus as he tooled around the island with his wife aboard a moped. Ortiz, not used to driving on the opposite (left) side of the road as is done on the island, forgot to look to the right while entering a road and was struck by a tour bus moving at an estimated speed of 25 mph. Tito was sent flying, while his wife was dragged 8 ft by the bus. Tito at first was told he might have a broken foot, but when got back in the states, he found that not to be true. "I have some ligament damage to my ankle and some road rash, that itches like a mother! My wife received 3 broken ribs and 4 fractured vertebrae in the lower back, but she is walking around now."

The couple flew back to the states on a private jet at a cost of $25,000 so as not to take any chances with Kristin’s health. After Tito assured me all was okay with his wife and himself, I asked him if he would still fight in the upcoming UFC. "I will start training next week and I can’t wait!" I asked if he knew who his opponent would be, he responded, "The name Dan Henderson was mentioned, but I doubt that will happen. It will be tough to get an opponent for me now…if a bus can’t knock me out, then who will?"

"NO HOLDS BARRED" ON EYADA SPORTS,
THE WEEK OF JULY 3 – 7:

by Eddie Goldman

"No Holds Barred" can be heard every Monday through Friday, 3 to 6 PM New
York time (Eastern Time – U.S.), only on eYada.com (http://www.eyada.com).

Eddie Goldman
Monday, July 3 — EYada is closed this Monday and Tuesday for the July 4th Independence Day holiday in the USA, so there will be archived programming these days. Today’s show will be a repeat of the show of Monday, June 26, which featured a discussion of Mike Tyson’s latest controversial fight; a report from the King of the Cage 4 show with Jeff Thaler; a live report from Japan about the latest Pancrase show with Phyllis Lee; and a report by me about the 2000 U.S. Olympic Wrestling Team Trials held in Dallas, as well as taped interviews with new Olympian Kerry McCoy and a brief talk with former wrestler and coach Rep. Dennis Hastert, the current Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Tuesday, July 4 — Today all of eYada will be featuring an all-day marathon of Dave Meltzer’s pro wrestling show "Wrestling Observer Live," but you still can hear archives of "No Holds Barred" by going to the eYada.com web page.

Wednesday, July 5 — After reviewing the news of the past few days, we will talk with Kipp Kollar, president of the North American Grappling Association, who will preview this coming Saturday’s Rhode Island Vale Tudo, as well as review the 2000 World Submission Grappling Championships held on Saturday, June 24, in Springfield, Massachusetts. Also, in a segment postponed from last week, we talk to Steve Nelson about the USWF’s return on July 8 to Amarillo, and the victory at the Olympic Wrestling Trials of Amarillo native Brandon Slay, who is believed to be the first Texas wrestler to make a U.S. Olympic wrestling team.

Thursday, July 6 — We have had many requests for the interviews I taped at the U.S. Olympic Wrestling Team Trials in Dallas, and today we will play them all. They include the post-match press conference and an interview with Kerry McCoy; USA Wrestling announcer Sandy Stevens recreating her witty introduction to the Olympic Trials; former wrestler and coach Rep. Dennis Hastert, the current Speaker of the House of Representatives, on the importance of wrestling; wrestler Dominic Black, whose injury in the Trials’ finals kept him from getting a shot at an Olympic berth; new Greco-Roman Olympians Steven Mays and Garrett Lowney; and the post-match press conference with Terry Brands as well as comments from Mike Chapman of the International Wrestling Institute and Museum as well as Terry’s twin brother, 1996 gold medalist Tom Brands.

Friday, July 7 — Since I will be flying today to Amarillo, Texas, for Saturday’s USWF show, we will repeat the show of last Friday, June 30, during which we spoke to USWF president and heavyweight champion Evan Tanner; reviewed the June 29 Heavyweight Explosion boxing card in New York; and had the "Queen of the UFC," Paula Romero, in the studio to give out some studied opinions as well as some UFC goodies. This show ended up being one of the wackiest and unplanned ones we have done to date, so don’t miss it.
