8-Ounce Gloves Approved For Floyd Mayweather – Conor McGregor

Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor will wear 8-ounce gloves, instead of 10-ounce, when they box on August 26th.
Both fighters recently submitted a request to wear the lighter gloves for their bout, and on Wednesday, the Nevada State Athletic Commission approved their request. The approval was reportedly called a “one-time” decision.
Typically 8-ounce gloves are only sanctioned for contests at 147 pounds. McGregor and Mayweather will compete at 154. The Association of Ringside Physicians recently released a statement, which cautioned against the fighters wearing 8 ounce gloves.
