INTERNATIONAL MASTERS and SENIORS

Moreira Vs. Dorneles
      One week after the World Jiu-Jitsu competition, fighters over 30 years old also had their opportunity to show how good they are in mat. The 2nd International Jiu-Jitsu Masters and Seniors that took place on August 5th at the Tijuca Tennis Club Gym in Rio de Janeiro was a complete success. Here are some quick results:

    Pinduka

  • Fernando Pinduka (Carlson), the man who first fought Marco Ruas in NHB (in 1986), submitted all of his opponents, winning in the heavy and open senior categories
  • Ricardo Libòrio (Brazilian Top Team) decided not to fight in the Worlds because of the death of his student, Jean Mesquita. One week later, Libòrio won the medium-heavy master category, defeating Flàvio Carneiro (21-0) and in the final Andrè King for a big point advantage
  • Murilo Bustamante (Brazilian TopTeam) submitted Ulisses Paixão and later Fàbio Clemente (6-0) getting the gold medal in heavy category master category
  • Murilo Ruppi (Brazilian TopTeam) defeated Pèricles Laudier (Alliance) in the final of the open master category.
  • Joe Moreira won a silver medal. He defeated Vale-Tudo fighter Bita (Gracie Barra) by 7-0 in the first match but got his guard passed by Guilherme Dorneles in the final getting.
  • Carlos Machado gave a show to the Brazilian public, winning his category and also the open category senior.
