Jorge Masvidal could be next in line for a shot at the UFC’s welterweight crown. But, “Gamebred” continues to drive for a fight with Conor McGregor, over a fight with the 170 champ, Kamaru Usman.

Since Masvidal is coming off wins over Darren Till, Ben Askren and Nate Diaz the rugged vet is likely next in line for a title shot. But, for weeks now, Masvidal has been pushing for a bout with McGregor.

While talking to the media recently, as McGregor gets set to fight Donald Cerrone on Saturday, Masvidal said this (quotes via MMA Junkie):

“If me and Conor go in the octagon, what happens? It’s one of the biggest fights in history, just by math (with) what Conor’s been doing and the last couple fights I’ve had. The engagements and pay-per-views broke records with ESPN. Obviously it’s a formula for success.”

“Someone will always have the belt at 170 pounds,” Masvidal said. “It doesn’t really matter if it’s Kamaru or not. Conor is a bigger fight. If Conor doesn’t do his job or Conor doesn’t want to fight after his fight (with Cerrone), we’re going to take Usman’s head off.”

At UFC 244 in November, in what’s believed to have been one of the biggest fights of 2019, Masvidal defeated Diaz via doctor stoppage.
