Report: Jon Jones Pleads Guilty to DWI

Jon Jones

By FCF Staff

Following Jon Jones’ latest arrest last week in Albuquerque, New Mexico, it’s being reported that the UFC champion has reached a plea deal, and that he will avoid jail time.

The UFC’s light-heavyweight champion was arrested last Thursday and charged with driving under the influence, negligent use of a firearm and possession of an open container. TMZ Sports is reporting that Jones has reached a deal, in which he is pleading guilty to the DWI charge.

As part of the agreement, Jones will receive 1-year supervised probation, and 96 hours in a community custody program (similar to house arrest). The story also quotes officials stating Jones will “complete a minimum of 90 day out-patient treatment, maximum fines and fees, community service and all other requirements of reporting to probation.”

In addition, Jones must install an ignition interlock device, connected to a breathalyzer, in any vehicle he operates.

The other charges Jones was facing will be dropped. A judge has yet to approve the plea deal prosecutors have tabled.

Jones was arrested for driving under the influence in 2012, and in 2015, he was arrested in connection to a hit-and-run incident, which broke the arm of a pregnant woman.

In September, Jones pleaded no contest to disorderly conduct, as a result of an alleged incident with a cocktail waitress.
