Modestas Bukauskas Defends Khalil Rountree’s Use of Fight Ending, Oblique Kick
By FCF Staff
Following Modestas Bukauskas’s vicious TKO loss to Khalil Rountree, it looks like the latter’s taking some heat for using an oblique kick to finish the fight. But, Bukauskas is defending his opponent.
Bukauskas faced Rountree at UFC Vegas 36. The bout was immediately called off in round two, when Rountree sent Bukauskas to the floor with a stomping kick to his lead leg.
The fight’s end has reignited debate about whether athletic commissions should ban the technique.
Since then, however, Bukauskas called on observers and critics to lay off Rountree.
“Getting MRI when I get home … probably ligament damage … And yo please give my opponent some slack, that kick was all good, it was my job to defend and I didn’t. Let the man enjoy his victory.”
