Oleksandr Usyk Proposes Future Fight With Alex Pereira
By FCF Staff
It remains to be seen how many more times Oleksandr Usyk fights. But, the decorated boxer and heavyweight champ is interested in facing UFC light-heavyweight king, Alex Pereira.
The 38-year-old Usyk retained all five of his world heavyweight titles in December, by recording another, decision win over Tyson Fury. As it stands right now, it’s not clear who the Ukranainian star will face next. But, the expectation is he will rematch Daniel Dubois, if Dubois defeats Joshua Parker on February 22nd.
Recently, while talking with TNT Sports, Usyk was asked about his future fights (quote via MMA Fighting).
“First is, who wins the next [Dubois vs. Parker] fight on Feb. 22,” Usyk said. “Next maybe a ‘show fight’ with Alex Pereira. Maybe. Why not? Alex wants to.”
“I think it’s a bad idea to make [a fight with] Daniel because Daniel has a future fight. “He say, ‘Hey, listen, I want a rematch.’ Please, make work on Feb. 22, if you win, welcome.”
Usyk stopped Dubois in the ninth round of their 2023 fight. Pereira, who is booked to fight Magomed Ankalaev on March 8th, recently said he was interested in crossing over to box Usyk.
