Aaron Pico has posted his first statement, since the former Bellator contender was brutally knocked out in his Octagon debut on Saturday.

Pico faced the undefeated Lerone Murphy in the co-headliner of UFC 319, and early on, the decorated wrestler pressured heavily and recorded two takedowns. But, later in round one, Murphy instantly KO’d Pico with a vicious, spinning elbow.

Since then, the 28-year-old featherweight posted this statement via social media.

“Last night wasn’t my night, that’s the fight game. I’m grateful for my team, my family, and everyone who continues to support me. The supporters that have been there from day one and my new supporters, I see you! Thank you.

“Wins and losses both teach lessons and I’ll come back sharper, stronger, and better prepared. Thank you all who have sent messages and checked in, my health is well. Thanks for riding with me. My story is not over.”

With Saturday’s defeat, Pico’s record now stands at 13 and 5. Pico’s only other defeat since 2019 came due to injury in a 2022 bout with Jeremy Kennedy.
