American Top Team (ATT) is proud to announce the signing of Olympic heavyweight wrestler Steve Mocco to the team. Mocco has relocated from Pennsylvania and moved to South Florida, where he will begin training full-time in preparation for his new career in MMA under the tutelage of legendary trainer Ricardo Liborio.
Mocco originally came down for a few weeks to help Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva with his fight, and also get a feel for our team and the training. Steve quickly decided this was the place to start his new career.
Mocco stated “I’m happy about the opportunity to train in a new sport and excited to learn some new things and continue competing. I can’t wait to get started.”
Mocco will be trained and managed by American Top Team, and will train alongside other highly credentialed athletes: Thiago Silva, Jeff Monson, Hector Lombard, Mark Hunt, Thiago “Pitbull” Alves, Jorge Masvidal, Mike Brown, Alexis Vila, Tyron Woodley, and Bubba Jenkins among others.
Mocco is one of the most accomplished heavyweight wrestlers in the sport, having won the U.S. Olympic Trials in ’08 earning him a trip to the Beijing Olympics where he placed 7th at 120kgs weight class. In college, Steve was a 2x NCAA Champion and 4x Finalist, also winning the Dan Hodge Award as the nation’s outstanding collegiate wrestler.
