Strikeforce’s upcoming September 29th card in Sacramento apparently has a new and intriguing addition, as Quinn Mulhern is reporting that he’s fighting UFC vet Jorge Santiago at the event.

Mulhern made the announcement via his official Twitter account by stating “You heard it from me first: I’m fighting September 29th in Sacramento against Jorge Santiago.”

If accurate, Santiago (25-10) will be returning to Strikeforce for the first time since 2007, when he secured the promotion’s middleweight belt by winning its single night championship tourney.

The 31 year-old-veteran is coming off a brief return to the UFC, where he dropped back-to-back bouts to Brian Stann and Demian Maia. More recently, he’s scored wins over Leonarado Pecanha and Jeremy Guthrie while competing for Titan Fighting Championships.

Mulhern (18-2) is riding a three fight win streak after he lost by unanimous decision to Jason High last June. Most recently, the former King of the Cage champion worked his way to a split decision victory over Yuri Villefort in May.

The upcoming September 29th event will be hosted by Sacramento’s Power Balance Pavilion and will feature lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez taking on challenger Pat Healy.
