Less than two weeks away from the next Score Fighting Series event in Hamilton, Ontario, the organization as announced that the city’s own, Lyndon Whitlock, will take on featherweight Fernando Vieira. The event will take place August 25th.
Vieira (7-2), who is a three-time BJJ World Champion and black belt, hasn’t fought since March, 2010, when he submitted Martin Svensson while competing for The Zone FC.
“I’m very excited to have this opportunity to be participating in The Score Fighting Series,” said Vieira, who relocated to Toronto from Brazil to teach at the Evolucao Thai MMA School. “My recent move to Toronto has been a major change in my life and a difficult adjustment at times, but I am more focused than ever. I am grateful for all the unwavering support from around the world and I hope to give the fans an exciting, memorable fight against Lyndon Whitlock.”
Whitlock (7-2) is coming off a first round, KO win over Cory Houston at a SFS event in March.
“There is a saying after one punch a black belt turns into a brown belt, after two punches a purple belt,”” said Whitlock. “Whether we are on the ground or on our feet, I’m going to be making his belt levels drop!”
