Strikeforce Vet Roger Bowling Confirms UFC Contract
By FCF Staff
Roger Bowling appears to be another Strikeforce vet who’s headed to the UFC, as the 30 year-old welterweight announced via his Facebook that he has received a contract from the promotion and will make his Octagon debut in 2013.
The powerful striker’s message stated:
Just received my UFC contract for 2013! This is going to be a AWESOME year! Hoping to get a fight late March or early April. Thank you to all my fans! I will work harder to keep my Facebook updated.
Bowling is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Strikeforce’s number one contender in Tarec Saffiedine, which took place in August. Prior to the defeat Bowling had recorded back-to-back stoppage wins over Jerron Peoples and Brandon Saling.
Over the last couple of weeks numerous Strikeforce vets have been confirmed for UFC bouts, some of whom include Bobby Green, Robbie Lawler, Bobby Voelker and Caros Fodor among others.
Strikeforce’s final event takes place this Saturday in Oklahoma City and will feature Saffiedine challenging welterweight champ Nate Marquardt.
