Carlos Condit-Matt Brown Latest Addition to UFC on FOX 9
By FCF Staff
UFC on FOX 9 has picked up another all-star bout that could be a barn burner, as the promotion has announced that former interim welterweight champ Carlos Condit will take on rising vet Matt Brown at the event. The card will take place December 14th and will be hosted by Sacramento’s Sleep Train Arena.
Condit (29-7) competed at UFC FN 28 last month and worked his way to an impressive, fourth round stoppage win over Martin Kampmann. The performance avenged the 2009, split decision loss Condit incurred versus the established welterweight. The bout also returned Condit to the winner’s column, as the 29 year-old was coming off unanimous decision losses to champion Georges St. Pierre and top contender Johny Hendricks. Last February, Condit defeated Nick Diaz by UD to become interim champ, before losing to GSP last November.
Brown (18-11) has become one of the UFC’s top commodities at 170 due a six fight win streak, which includes stoppage wins over Jordan Mein, Mike Swick, Luis Ramos and most recently Mike Pyle. Prior to the run the 32 year-old had gone 1-4.
UFC on FOX 9 will feature lightweight champion Anthony Pettis taking on Josh Thomson in the main event. Here is the card’s line-up to date.
Anthony Pettis vs. Josh Thomson
Urijah Faber vs. Michael McDonald
Matt Brown vs. Carlos Condit
Nik Lentz vs. Chad Mendes
Mac Danzig vs. Joe Lauzon
Scott Jorgensen vs. Ian McCall
