Prior to choking out Mitrione in September, Schaub worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Lavar Johnson at UFC 157 in February.
Heading into 2013, the former pro football player was coming off KO losses to Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Ben Rothwell.
During Schaub’s (10-3) run with the promotion the TUF 10 finalist has also defeated veterans like Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic and Gabriel Gonzaga. His only loss came in the TUF 10 finals versus Roy Nelson.
