Georges St. Pierre will reportedly speak with the media tomorrow in Quebec City, and because the UFC Welterweight Champion recently said he’s been dealing with personal issues and plans to take a break from fighting, there is extensive speculation as to what he will relay Friday. UFC President Dana White, however, doesn’t believe the renowned fighter is planning to announce his retirement.
While appearing on Sportnet’s “UFC Central” recently, White stated “I don’t think he’s going to retire”, before adding that if the fighter wants to take some time off, it could be an “issue.” White then referred to the fact that St. Pierre recently was sidelined for over a year due to knee surgery. White also relayed that he’s apparently supposed to speak with GSP Thursday.
Even before St. Pierre’s controversial split decision win over Hendricks at UFC 167, there were rumors that the fighter may be preparing to retire. The 32 year-old consistently denied , however, that he’s planning to hang up the gloves.
