Report: Rich Franklin Intends to Finish Out UFC Contract, But After New Business Allows
By FCF Staff
Rich Franklin has said he intends to step into the Octagon one more time, but the former UFC champ is reporting that won’t happen until the demands of starting a new business subside.
The 39 year-old fighter, who has one more bout on his current UFC deal, hasn’t fought since November, 2012, when he was KO’d by Cung Le. Since then, Franklin has been focusing much of his time on building ZeLin Juice and Fusion Cafe, alongside business partner Billy Zebe.
In a recent interview with MMA Junkie.com, Franklin repeated his intention to complete his UFC contract, but noted:
“I just have to get my business to a point where realistically I could walk away and put it on cruise control, or at least have the mechanisms in place where the business doesn’t need my daily attention, and that’s just not the case now.”
Prior to facing Le, Franklin (29-7) worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Wanderlei Silva in June, 2012. The Ohio fighter is 2-3 in his last 5 contests.
