Report: Dana White Says It’s Time For “Minotauro” Nogueira to Retire
By FCF Staff
Following Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira’s knockout loss to Roy Nelson at UFC Fight Night 39, UFC President Dana White is calling on the legendary heavyweight to hang up the gloves.
Although Nogueira is reportedly interested in rematching Frank Mir, before he calls it quits, White had the following to say about “Minotauro” on Wednesday (quote via MMA Junkie.com):
“I’ve been in this position a million times,” said White. “I wanted to give him the opportunity to say something first, but now I’m going to say “Big Nog,” I love you, but I’d love you to never fight again.’”
Nogueira (34-9-1) was coming off a submission loss to Fabricio Werdum heading into the bout, and has gone 2-3 in his last 5 contests.
The Brazilian fighter had his arm broken by Mir in 2011, after Nogueira didn’t tap-out to a first round, Kimura.
