After their initial meeting was cancelled this summer, the Ultimate Fighting Championship has announced that a bout between Jordan Mein and Thiago Alves has been re-booked for January 31st.

The welterweight scrap will be part of UFC 183, which will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mein and Alves were originally scheduled to fight on August 23rd, however, an injury forced the latter to withdraw. Mein (29-9) ended up fighting Mike Pyle that night, and quickly scored a stoppage win.

The 25 year-old Mein has gone 3-1 to date in the UFC, and the only man to defeat him thus far in the Octagon is fellow contender Matt Brown. Mein is currently ranked #13 in the division.

The 31 year-old Alves (20-9) hasn’t fought since April, when he scored a unanimous decision win over Seth Baczynski. The former #1 contender, who has battled several injuries in recent years, is 3-2 in his last 5 fights.

UFC 183 will feature a middleweight fight between former champ Anderson Silva and Nick Diaz in the main event.
