Strikeforce Announces Robbie Lawler vs. Tim Kennedy for July 30th
By FCF Staff
Strikeforce has added another compelling bout to the promotion’s July 30th, “Fedor vs. Henderson” event, as a bout between middleweight contenders Robbie Lawler and Tim Kennedy has been confirmed for the card. The announcement was made on Strikeforce’s official Twitter account.
Lawler (18-7) is coming off a submission loss to current Strikeforce champion Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza in January, after knocking out fellow UFC vet Matt Lindland in December. Lawler is 2-3 in his last five fights.
Kennedy (13-3) tapped out Melvin Manhoef with a first round, rear-naked-choke in March, to get back on the winning track after he lost by unanimous decision to Souza last August. Prior to his loss to Souza, Kennedy had won four straight.
The July 30th card will be hosted by the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, and will be headlined by a heavyweight bout between Fedor Emelianenko and Dan Henderson.
Other bouts confirmed for the card include women’s welterweight champion Marloes Coenen vs. Miesha Tate and light-heavyweight Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal vs. Roger Gracie.
