Report: Carlos Condit vs. Thiago Alves to Take Place in May
By FCF Staff
Carlos Condit has said in recent weeks that he was looking to book his next bout, and according to a report, he’s done just that.
Condit hasn’t fought since March, 2014, when he injured his knee while fighting Tyron Woodley, and underwent surgery shortly after. More recently, the welterweight had resumed training, and according to a new report from MMA Junkie.com, Condit will fight Thiago Alves on May 30th.
Sources have confirmed the match-up to the outlet, however, the UFC has not made any official announcement. A card and venue for the bout has yet to be announced, however, the event will likely take place in Brazil.
Condit (29-8) has gone 2-3 in his last 5 bouts, with his other losses coming against former champs in Georges St-Pierre and Johny Hendricks. The veteran’s wins during that time were against Martin Kampmann and Nick Diaz.
Alves (21-9), meanwhile, stopped Jordan Mein in his last outing, after he decisioned Seth Baczynski in April, 2014. The former challenger, who has battled injuries in recent years, is 3-2 in his last 5 fights. Alves also holds a win over Papy Abedi during that time, and has losses to Rick Story and Kampmann.
