As Fedor Emelianenko prepares to make his long awaited return for Rizin Fighting Federation, the legendary fighter hasn’t outright dismissed that a deal with the UFC could still happen.

After Emelianenko announced he was returning to action earlier this year, there was considerable speculation and debate as to whether he might sign with the UFC. When the 39 year-old announced his deal with Rizin FF, however, many closed the book on Emelianenko ever stepping foot in the Octagon.

Recently the Russian star spoke to Championat, and he reportedly had this to say, about whether a deal with the UFC could still happen (quote via Bloody Elbow.com):

“Time will tell if there can be an opportunity to work with the UFC, as well as with other companies.”

Fedor is scheduled to fight kickboxer Jaideep Singh at Rizin’s December 31st card in Japan. The former PRIDE champ will be fighting for the first time since 2012.
