UFC 197: Dana White Says Demetrious Johnson is Sport’s Best P4P Fighter
By FCF Staff
The debate as to who is the sport’s best pound-for-pound fighter will likely continue, but following UFC 197, Dana White is going with flyweight champ, Demetrious Johnson.
For weeks now, the consensus has been that Jon Jones and Johnson are MMA’s best fighters. Last night, Jones outscored Ovince Saint Preux for the unanimous decision win, while Johnson put away Henry Cejudo in the opening round with strikes.
After the card, White was asked to comment on Johnson’s electrifying performance, while appearing on FOX Sports 1’s post-fight show. The UFC President said this (quote via FOX Sports 1 press release):
“I think he’s ridiculously, incredibly talented. He’s awesome. I believe with Joe Rogan that he’s the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.”
Johnson has now defended the 125 title eight times. Former middleweight champion Anderson Silva holds the record for 10 title defenses.
