UFC 205: Eddie Alvarez Reports he Enjoyed Title Win For “About Three Days”
By FCF Staff
Although Eddie Alvarez became one of the most accomplished fighters in MMA history this past July, by winning the UFC’s 155 title, the lightweight was quickly ready to move on.
Alvarez took out Rafael dos Anjos at UFC FN 90, and in doing so, he became the first fighter to win championships with both the UFC and Bellator. Recently the Philadelphia native spoke to UFC.com in advance of his UFC 205 bout with Conor McGregor this Saturday. While discussing his impressive and historic victory, Alvarez stated:
“I enjoyed that belt for about three days, and then my mind already started thinking about what’s next,” Alvarez said. “It wasn’t long before I was thinking of how I can better it, what opponent’s next, and what’s the next step in my career. To get here was just one part of it. Now the real journey begins.”
McGregor, meanwhile, is coming off a decision win over Nate Diaz in August, to avenge his submission loss to the veteran in March.
UFC 205 will be hosted by Madison Square Garden in New York City.
