UFC 211: Jorge Masvidal Says His Wrestling Will be The “Key Ingredient” Against Demian Maia
By FCF Staff
Demian Maia is riding a six fight winning streak, and has defeated several top welterweights during that time, but Jorge Masvidal insists things will be different when they fight.
Maia and Masvidal will battle at UFC 211, which will take place on May 13th in Dallas, Texas. The latter was a guest on the latest “UFC Tonight“, and when asked how he’ll defeat the vaunted grappler, Masvidal said this (quote via FOX Sports 1 press release):
“There’s this key ingredient called wrestling. None of the other dudes possess it. Defensive wrestling, I can hold my own against anyone in the division. Just like when I was fighting Cowboy, they thought I was going to be decapitated, and they were sorely mistaken. They’re going to find out just how good my grappling is defensively on May 13.”
Masvidal is coming off a stoppage win over the aforementioned Donald Cerrone in January, which was his third straight victory.
Masvidal is currently ranked #5 in the UFC’s welterweight rankings, and Maia is sitting in the #3 spot.
