Manager Says Matt Hughes is Awake and Responsive Following Truck – Train Collision

Following a vehicle accident that required Matt Hughes to be airlifted for medical attention, his longtime manager’s reporting the legend’s awake and responding.
Hughes was seriously injured on Friday after the truck he was driving was struck by a train. Since then, Hughes’ longtime manager, Monte Cox, has reported the retired fighter’s “eyes are closed, but he is awake today and squeezing hands” (via MMA Junkie).
In recent weeks, the 43 year-old, UFC Hall of Famer has talked about returning to fighting. Hughes last bout took place in September, 2011, when he was stopped by Josh Koscheck.
