UFC 231: Max Holloway Says Bout With Khabib Nurmagomedov Might “Excite” Him The Most
By FCF Staff
Following Max Holloway’s memorable, stoppage win over Brian Ortega last night at UFC 231, the featherweight champ reported that a superfight with Khabib Nurmagomedov is extremely interesting to him.
Holloway recorded his 13th straight victory on Saturday after Ortega was not allowed to continue fighting past the fourth round. Now it remains to be seen who might be next for Holloway, considering he has defeated several of the division’s top fighters and because he cuts a lot of weight to make 155.
While discussing his future after the win, Holloway had this to say about a possible showdown with the lightweight champ, Nurmagomedov (quotes via MMA Fighting):
“Khabib is another undefeated fighter,” Holloway said. “I got this niche, I guess. I just gave an undefeated fighter his first loss. So maybe that one might excite me the most. We were supposed to have that one. So we’ll see what happens. I don’t know. I ain’t picky. Feed me. They all can get it.”
“Dana White is the boss,” Holloway said. “The boss is looking for superfights. All the UFC guys, you guys — you guys be talking about me fighting at 55 for super fights. I keep hearing the name Conor (McGregor), Khabib.”
The last person to defeat Holloway is McGregor, who earned a decision win over him back in 2013.
