Conor McGregor Explains Why he Owes Nate Diaz The “Trilogy”
By FCF Staff
It’s still not clear who Conor McGregor will fight in his next UFC bout, but recently the star explained why he owes Nate Diaz a third bout.
During a Q&A with fans this past weekend in Chicago, McGregor was asked about the possibility of facing Diaz for a third time, and the former champ said this (quotes via TMZ):
“He fought me, he beat me. He gave me a rematch at the exact same weight, there was no hesitation, that’s a true fighter right there,” McGregor said.
“I have nothing but respect … I owe him the trilogy now and the trilogy will happen.”
McGregor faced Diaz twice in 2016. The latter won the first bout via second-round submission, and McGregor took the rematch by majority decision.
Most recently, McGregor was submitted by reigning, lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov in October.
