Across The Pond: Murray Update, Matsui To Cage Rage

Across The Pond:
Murray Update, Matsui to Cage Rage

By David West

From across the pond, here’s the latest coming from the UK MMA scene:

Following an altercation on Wednesday, September 28th, during which he received multiple stab wounds, British MMA star Lee Murray remains in the hospital, but is no longer in a critical condition.

According to Cage Rage promoter Dave O’Donnell, Murray has regained consciousness and is able to sit up and speak. It is too early yet to say if there will be any long-term effects from the wounds Murray was inflicted, but he is reported to have already asked when he can fight again.

The Metropolitan Police report that they are still making inquiries into the disturbance on the 28th. No arrests have been made at the time of writing, and the other two men who suffered stab wounds have been discharged from hospital.

In Cage Rage news, experienced Pride veteran Daijiro Matsui (7-13-3) has signed to fight England’s Alex Reid (8-2-0) at their next event to be held in London on December 3rd. Matsui has been in there with everyone from Quinton Jackson to Igor Vovchanchyn and presents a good challenge for the British striker. Headlining that same card will be the eagerly awaited Middleweight Title clash between Anderson Silva and Curtis Stout, who has had quite a run thus far in the popular English promotion with three consecutive KO victories.
