After Removal From WSOF 4 Card, Polley Fighting Mocco at RFA 9
By FCF Staff
After being removed from last weekend’s WSOF 4 card, Lew Polley has agree to step in for the injured James Wilson at Resurrection Fighting Alliance 9, and will fight heavyweight Steve Mocco. The promotion has announced the change to the event, which will take place August 16th, in Los Angeles, California.
Polley was scheduled to fight Hans Stringer at WSOF 4 on Saturday, but the veteran was reportedly well overweight for the bout and the fight was cancelled. The 31 year-old fighter and former NCAA Division 1 wrestler is coming off a unanimous decision win over Carmelo Marrero at Bellator 77 last October.
According to the promotion’s official announcement, Wilson broke his hand during training and was forced to drop out of his bout with Mocco.
Mocco is a former U.S. Olympic wrestler who transitioned into MMA fast fall and has scored submission wins in his first two pro fights. The 31 year-old and former collegiate wrestling champ was quoted saying in the press release:
“I’m going to go out there and do my thing, said Mocco. I’m just glad Lew took the fight. He’s a good fighter, a good wrestler, and has a ton of experience. I’m ready for RFA 9 – this is going to be a great fight.”
RFA 9 will be hosted by the StubHub Center in L.A. and will be broadcast live on AXS TV. The card will be headlined by a fight between UFC vet Jeff Curran and Pedro Munhoz to determine the promotion’s bantamweight champ.
