After hinting last week that he may have something to announce regarding the middleweight title picture following UFC 149, UFC President Dana White will apparently leave Calgary with no decision made.

Although White never confirmed that the winner of last night’s fight between rising middleweight Tim Boetsch and former Bellator champ Hector Lombard would move into the number one slot, an impressive win for either man likely would have done just that.

Prior to UFC 149, Boetsch was coming off an electrifying stoppage of former number one contender Yushin Okami for his fourth straight win, while Lombard had gone undefeated in 25 straight fights.

Now that Boetsch worked his way to a split decision win over the highly regarded Lombard, in a bout that produced few highlight reel moments, however, White is apparently leaning towards rising star Chris Weidman.

Following UFC 149 White cited Weidman’s “impressive win”–a brutal second round KO of Mark Munoz earlier in the month–as why the noted wrestler is likely closest to a title shot.

Since arriving in the UFC in 2011, Weidman has won five straight fights and has also scored wins over Alessio Sakara, Jesse Bongfeldt, Tom Lawlor and former contender Demian Maia.
