After suffering a unanimous decision and disappointing loss to Antonio Rogerio Nogueira earlier this year, former light-heavyweight champ Rashad Evans has rebounded with consecutive wins and is hoping to face a top contender next.

While speaking to FOX Sports 1, after his quick, stoppage victory over Chael Sonnen this weekend, Evans relayed the following while discussing his immediate future:

“I want Alexander Gustafsson, even Glover Teixeira. I’d love to fight some of the best guys in the division.”

Gustafsson is of course booked to fight Jimi Manuwa on March 8th, and Teixeira will face champion Jon Jones, however, no date has been set for the title fight. The only fighter who is ranked ahead of the #4 positioned Evans, aside from Teixera, Gustafsson and Jones, is Phil Davis (#3). Evans defeated Davis by unanimous decision, however, in January 2012.

The 34 year-old fighter also offered this assessment of his win over Sonnen, which came via ground-and-pound strikes at 4:05 of the first round.

“Once I got him down I wanted to make sure there was no way he was going to escape this and that’s where I wanted to take his heart.”
