Alcantara vs. Omigawa, Arantes vs Carvalho Added to UFC 142
The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s upcoming January 14th event in Brazil has two new featherweight additions, as today the promotion confirmed that Yuri Alcantara will fight Michihiro Omigawa and Felipe Arantes will battle Antonio Carvalho.
Although the venue and location for the upcoming UFC 142 card hasn’t been confirmed, it’s expected that Rio de Janeiro’s HSBC Arena will host the event.
Alcantara (26-3) is coming off a unanimous decision win over the aforementioned Arantes at UFC 134 in August, while, Omigawa (13-10-1) scored a UD victory over Jason Young at UFC 138 earlier this month.
Prior to his UD loss to Alcantara, Arantes (13-4) last competed in April, and had his Urban Conflict Championship bout with Andy Main declared a no contest.
Carvalho will be making his Octagon debut at UFC 142; in June the featherweight worked his way to decision win over Douglas Evan while competing for Score Fighting Series.
UFC 142 will be headlined by a featherweight bout between champion Jose Aldo and challenger Chad Mendes.
