Aleksander Emelianenko Added to M-1 Challenge XXVIII
By FCF Staff
Fedor will not be the only Emelianenko that will compete for M-1 Global in the month of November, as the promotion has announced today that the veteran’s younger brother Aleksander, will fight at its upcoming, November 12th card in Astrakhan, Russia.
The 30 year-old Aleksander is being brought in to headline M-1 Challenge XXVIII, due to a recent knee injury that welterweight champion Shamil Zavurov has incurred, which has postponed his scheduled bout with Rashid Magomedov.
M-1 Global is actively seeking out an opponent for Emelianeko (17-4), who is coming off a stoppage loss to Peter Graham in December. Prior to the defeat, the 6’6 tall heavyweight had won eight straight fights, a run which included victories over Dan Bobish and Miodrag Petkovic.
According to a report from M-1 Global, Emelianenko is currently training alongside Fedor in Holland, as the former Pride champ continues to prepare for his upcoming November 20th bout with Jeff Monson.
