McDonald

By FCF Staff

Undefeated bantamweight Alex Soto has agreed to step in for the injured Johnny Eduardo and will fight Michael McDonald at UFC 139 on November 19th.  The UFC announced the change today, however, the nature of Eduardo’s injury was not disclosed.

Soto (6-0-1) hasn’t competed since June, when he battled Seiji Akao to a draw at Deep 54. Prior to the bout, Soto had won six straight fights after turning profesional in 2009.

The bantamweight, and U.S. Navy dolphin trainer, had originally been scheduled to fight Sengoku vet Masanori Kanehara at Xplode Fight Series’ November 19th event.

McDonald (13-1) is coming off a split decision win over Chris Cariaso at UFC 130 in May, to extend the prospect’s UFC / WEC record to 3-0.

UFC 139 will be hosted by San Jose’s HP Pavilion and will feature a light-heayweight bout between former Strikeforce champ Dan Henderson and former UFC champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.
