Alexander Gustafsson Acknowledges Jon Jones is The Best, But is no Fan of “Bones”

Alexander Gustafsson can’t take anything away from the fighting abilities of Jon Jones, but “The Mauler” is no fan of “Bones”.

Gustafsson finished Glover Teixeira on Sunday at UFC Fight Night 109, and in doing, the Swedish star likely locked up a rematch with either Jones or Daniel Cormier. The latter two are set to fight on July 29th at UFC 214.

Following Gustafsson’s stoppage victory this past weekend, the light-heavyweight contender was asked who he’ll be rooting for in Cormier – Jones II, and here is what he had to say (quote via MMA Fighting):

“I don’t like him,” Gustafsson said. “I give him that he’s the best fighter of all-time, the best pound-for-pound fighter of our division — of course, everybody knows that. He hasn’t even lost a fight yet, he demolishes everyone he fights. But as a person, as a champion, he’s not a champion, in my eyes. He’s not a good person, in my eyes.

“That’s why I always tell the guys, ‘I hope that DC [Daniel Cormier] wins, because I like the guy, he’s a worthy champion…”

Gustafsson has fought both Cormier and Jones in championship fights, and lost both, tightly contested fights via decision.
