Alexander Gustafsson Says Bout With Jon Jones Is “On”
By FCF Staff
Although nothing has been announced, especially since it remains to be seen when Jon Jones will return from his foot injury, but it increasingly looks like the UFC light-heavyweight champ will fight Alexander Gustafsson next.
Jones has said several times now that he would prefer to fight Gustafsson next, rather than former champ and opponent Lyoto Machida, and now the Swedish fighter has tweeted:
Its on @JonnyBones cant wait to get in that cage with YOU!!!
Both men are currently in Moscow, Russia, attending promotional events.
Gustafsson was scheduled to fight Gegard Mousasi at UFC on FUEL TV 9 in April, however he suffered a cut just days before the fight and was forced to withdraw.
The 26 year-old fighter is coming off a unanimous decision win over “Shogun” Rua in December to record his sixth straight win.
Jones suffered a dislocated toe during his stoppage victory over Chael Sonnen at UFC 159, and it’s not yet known when exactly the fighter will be able to compete again.
