Alexander Gustafsson Says Jon Jones Will Never Shed “Cheater Stamp” if Appeal Unsuccessful

Jon Jones insists he never knowingly took performance enhancing drugs, but Alexander Gustafsson believes the fighter will forever be known as a cheater, if he’s unable to launch a successful appeal.

Since Jones was removed from UFC 200, as a result of a potential anti-doping violation, the interim 205 champ has denied he intentionally took PEDs. Recently it was reported that the renowned fighter tested positive for estrogen blockers.

Recently Gustafsson spoke with FloCombat about Jones’ situation, and while doing so, the light-heavyweight contender stated:

“Obviously, I think that if it’s proven that he has been cheating, he should definitely be suspended,” Gustafsson said. “The sad thing for me is that if he does have to sit out two years, then I’m not sure if he will ever be able to come back?

“Even if he does come back, he will never be able to erase the ‘cheater stamp’. Once you are caught, you can never wash that away.”

The Swedish fighter, meanwhile, is scheduled to fight Jan Blachowic at UFC FN 93 on September 3rd.
