Ciryl Gane and his striking have received a lot of praise since arriving in the UFC, and Alexander Volkov is looking forward to testing the rising heavyweight’s stand-up on Saturday night.

Volkov will battle Gane in the main event of UFC Vegas 30, which will take place at the promotion’s Apex Facility.

While talking about Gane recently, and the French fighter’s renowned striking, Volkov said this (quotes via MMA Junkie).

“He is a very good striker from France,” Volkov said. “Despite the fact that he does not have much experience in UFC, he conducts his fights very competently and intelligently, like a real fighter in the top-five world ranking. Indeed, he is dangerous – dangerous for his striking technique, variety of strikes and manner of execution.

“I think it will be a matchup of strikers until one of us gives up and tries to turn to wrestling. But I would like to compete with him in striking, because I’m a striker as well. And I want to find out whose kung fu is better.”

The 32-year-old Volkov (33-8) is coming off a stoppage win over Alistair Overeem in February, and the Russian fighter is 3-2 in his last 5 bouts.

Gane (8-0), who is 31, recorded a decision win over Jairzinho Rozenstruik in his last bout, which also took place in Febraury.
