It looks like Alistair Overeem’s storied fighting career has come to a close, as recently the decorated fighter announced he’s decided to hang up the gloves. In addition, the former heavyweight is reporting a change to his diet is why the once, feared striker, has lost so much weight.

The 43-year-old recently appeared on “Lovin Dubai“, and during the segment, the Dutch star confirmed he’s decided to “stop fighting”. Further, Overeem talked about how a change to vegetarianism, prompted by advice he received from “special nutritionist,” Julian VanHoven, is why he’s lost so much weight.

Overeem went 47-19 during his MMA career and won both Strikeforce’s and DREAM’s heavyweight titles. The fighter also compiled a record of 10-4, with 1 no-contest in kickboxing, and that included winning K-1’s 2010, World Grand Prix.

In October, Overeem defeated Badr Hari in a GLORY kickboxing match by decision. But, after Overeem reportedly tested positive for banned substances, the fight was overturned and the fighter was suspended.
