Alistair Overeem Guarantees Second Bout With Francis Ngannou Would be “Different”
By FCF Staff
Following Alistair Overeem’s impressive win over Sergey Pavlovich at UFC Beijing, the decorated heavyweight maintains that a rematch with Francis Ngannou would unfold very differently.
Overeem faced Pavlovich in the card’s co-main event, and he proceeded to finish the rising fighter with ground-and-pound strikes. After the victory, Overeem was asked about the possibility of fighting Ngannou again, who stopped Curtis Blaydes in the headliner. The veteran fighter said this (quotes via MMA Fighting):
“Tonight was a short night,” Overeem said. “I have a lot of respect for Francis Ngannou, but, yes, I’m very ready for a second fight with him.”
”I can promise you the second fight will be different from the first fight,” he added. “I made changes to my camp, I feel very energized, very motivated. The second fight will be different from the first fight, I guarantee that.”
Overeem was quickly knocked out by Ngannou at UFC 218 in December, 2017.
