Following Alistair Overeem’s latest win at UFC Vegas 9 on Saturday, it remains to be seen who the heavyweight will fight next. But, the legendary fighter says he’s open to fighting Jairzinho Rozenstruik once again.

Overeem faced Augusto Sakai in the headliner of the card, and early on, he absorbed some heavy shots from the contender. The decorated heavyweight turned to his wrestling and top game, however, and Overeem finished Sakai in round five.

The win was Overeem’s second, since he was stopped by Jairzinho Rozenstruik last December. Overeem outscored Rozenstruik throughout much of the bout. But, late in round five, the hard hitting floored the former Strikeforce champ and the fight was called.

While talking about his next bout following UFC Vegas 9, Overeem had this to say, about the possibility of facing  Rozenstruik again (quotes via MMA Junkie).

“Rozenstruik, I destroyed that man,” Overeem said. “I schooled him. In my opinion, it was a very bad decision by the ref, waiving it off with zero seconds left. I have no problem running that back. In my mind, I already beat him. It’s only on paper that he got it. He knows it, too. I have no problem running that back.”

Overeem also said he’d be interested in fighting Derrick Lewis next. But, he noted Lewis is scheduled to fight his teammate, Curtis Blaydes on November 28th. Overeem argued that Blaydes is going to “destroy” Lewis.

In addition, the 40-year-old Dutch fighter said this.

“No preference (of opponent),” Overeem said. “You know what my preference is? Quality time with my girls. I miss them. Camp is gruesome. I’m separated for eight weeks. I kind of do that on purpose to get extra hungry and extra motivated. For now, I’m going to fly back early tomorrow and spend some quality time with them. Then we’ll figure it out.”

With Saturday’s win, Overeem moved his pro MMA record to 47-18, with 1 no-contest. Sakai’s fell to 15-2-1.
