Andrei Arlovski is Still Working Towards Another HW Crown
By FCF Staff
Although Andrei Arlovski is now 40, and despite the fact it’s been over a decade since he was a reigning champ, the rugged vet still intends to win another heavyweight title.
Arlovski is preparing to face Ben Rothwell tonight at UFC Sacramento, in what will be his 48th pro fight. While discussing his future in fighting, and whether he’s still hunting for another championship win, Arlovski said this (quotes via MMA Junkie):
“It’s just beginning,” Arlovski said. “I got at least four or five more years, so we’ll see. I think so, why not? I’m in a good life right now. I have good coaches (and) team. The most important thing is my wife lets me do what I love to do, so I’m good.”
“First of all, it may sound stupid or not, but I want to be champion again. That’s why I’m in camp every day. (I) wake up at 6 o’clock in the morning. I stick to my gameplan, stick with my schedule, and do what I love to do.”
Arlovski (27-18, 2 no-contests) is looking to end a four fight, winless streak. The 37-year-old Rothwell (36-11) has lost two straight and is 2-3 in his last 5 bouts.
