Alexander Gustafsson has finally agreed to take on fellow light-heavyweight contender Anthony Johnson, but it looks like “Rumble” is still angry about how the situation’s unfolded.

Johnson recently called for a fight with Gustafsson, since the latter has been replaced by Daniel Cormier in a title fight with Jon Jones.

At first, Gustafsson didn’t appear to be interested in the bout, and argued Johnson hasn’t done enough to warrant a fight with the #1 contender. More recently, however, the Swedish fighter announced he was down for the fight.

Well, in a follow up interview with “The MMA Hour”, here is some of what Johnson had to say about Gustafsson, and their recent back-and-forth (quotes via MMA Fighting.com).

“He doesn’t have to be impressed with me, but saying that I need a few more fights to get to him or something like that, in my opinion, dude, nobody knew who you were until you fought Jon. You were just an average Joe, just like me, until you fought Jon. You gave Jon a great fight, now the whole world knows who you are. You’re like an overnight celebrity.

“That’s what happens when you go in there and fight your ass off. But don’t try to belittle me. You didn’t win; don’t make it seem like you’re the champion and you can say those type of things.”

Cormier and Jones are set to fight on January 3rd. Although Dana White has confirmed the promotion is interested in booking Gustafssson-Johnson, no date for the fight has been announced.
