Anthony Smith understands that he needs to record a few more wins before he can call for another title shot. But, following his victory at UFC Vegas 15, ‘Lionheart’ reported he’s interested in fighting Paul Craig.

Smith was booked to fight Devin Clark in the headliner of Saturday’s card, after dropping back-to-back bouts to Glover Teixeira and Aleksandar Rakic. Smith quickly tool Clark down in the headlining fight, and secured a fight-ending, triangle-choke soon after.

Following the pivotal win, Smith had this to say about his next bout (quotes via MMA Fighting).

“I know what my last year looked like. I did to Devin Clark what I’m supposed to do to Devin Clark. I’m not saying that I’m not happy with that win, but if anything other than that happened, we have a problem. So I’m not going to be the guy that says I’m f*cking next in line. If I’ve got to stay down in the rankings and find my way back to fighting those top guys, that’s what I’ll do.

“I think I saw something about Paul Craig had brought my name up. That’s a fun matchup. That’s a fun grappling matchup. I love his style. I could listen to his interviews forever. As long as I have enough time to get ready, I’m good.”

Craig (14-4-1) is coming off stoppage win over ‘Shogun’ Rua earlier this month and is undefeated in four straight fights.

With the win on Saturday, Smith extended his record to 34-16.
