Marco Alvan, manager of UFC heavyweight Gabriel Gonzaga, has yet to act on claims that he would appeal Gonzaga’s controversial loss to Travis Browne at The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale this past weekend.

Gonzaga (14-7) was knocked out only 1:11 into the first round of his heavyweight fight at the Mandalay Bay Events center in Las Vegas, Nevada, after Travis Browne (14-1) unleashed a bevy of elbows as Gonzaga attempted a takedown. In seconds Browne unloaded six strikes in total, ones which earned him the “Knockout of the Night” $50,000 bonus.

After a number of what appears to be legal blows knocked Gonzaga unconscious, Browne continued his assault with elbows that, according to Gonzaga’s manager, were illegal.

The question lies in whether the initial knockout strikes were legally placed.

Alvan issued a statement via Facebook after the fight on Saturday which read,

Guys Gabriel Gonzaga is ok, thanks for the messages. I need to review it to count how many illegal elbows but Its a fact that it was illegal. I contacted Keith Kizer head of Nevada Athletic Comission and he told me to file a complaint and he would review it. I true believe it was illegal. I never complaint about a losses who knows me know that I handle it good but illegal we can not accept.”

A declaration made four days ago and yet, according NSAC Executive Director Keith Kizer to MMAJunkie.com, no report has been filed.

The victory puts Browne back in the win column after getting TKO’ed by Antonio Silva at UFC on FX 5.

This latest loss snaps Gonzaga’s previous win streak. A disappointing end to a three bout rally that saw Parker Porter, Ednaldo Oliveira and Ben Rothwell all fall to submissions.
