Artem Lobov Outlines Why Conor McGregor Should Get Immediate Rematch With Khabib Nurmagomedov
By FCF Staff
It remains to be seen who the UFC taps to face Khabib Nurmagomedov next, but Conor McGregor’s teammate, Artem Lobov, believes the former champ deserves an immediate rematch.
McGregor faced Nurmagomedov in the headliner of UFC 229 earlier this month, and was submitted by the lightweight champ in round four. Due to how massive the bout was, and because of the post-fight brawl that occurred, there’s been debate as to whether the UFC might book an immediate rematch.
Others, however, have argued that since the fight was not overly competitive, former interim champ, Tony Ferguson, should fight for the belt next.
In advance of Lobov’s bout tomorrow with Michael Johnson, the Russian fighter had this to say about McGregor receiving a rematch (quote via MMA Junkie):
“I think that’s the fight that makes sense,” Lobovold said. “He’s made everyone in the UFC, including Khabib, a lot more money than they ever have made, so why not give him this?”
“He’s been the guy that always took everybody on. There’s been many changes of opponents for him. He never blinked an eyelid – just took the fights, no problem. Never pulled out in his life. A true fighter. A fighter’s fighter. A real man. So give him the fight.”
Lobov will fight Johnson in the co-headliner of UFC Moncton.
