Askren Scores UD Win Over Thompson; Hieron, Chandler Advance

Bellator welterweight champion Ben Askren once again turned to his extensive wrestling abilities last night in Newkirk, Oklahoma, to score a dominant, unanimous decision win over veteran Nick Thompson. The victory, which took place in a non-title bout, leaves Askren’s record at 8-0. (Pictured: Askren working on Thompson from above)
In the semifinals of Bellator’s ongoing Season Four, welterweight tourney, Xtreme Couture vet Jay Hieron worked his way to a unanimous decision win over an extremely game Brent Weedman.
At lightweight, All American wrestler Michael Chandler out grappled Lloyd Woodard for the UD victory, entrenching his position in the tourney finals.
