BAMMA 14: Jim Wallhead-Florent Betorangal Confirmed

The British Association of Mixed Martial Arts has confirmed that Bellator vet Jim Wallhead will battle welterweight Florent Betorangal at the promotion’s upcoming December 14th event in Birmingham, England. BAMMA 14 will be hosted by the city’s LG Arena and will feature Paul Daley taking on Romario Manoel da Silva in the main event.

Wallhead (24-8) is coming off a split decision loss to Eddy Ellis at BAMMA 13 in September, after submitting UFC vet Matt Veach at BAMMA 12 in March. The former Bellator competitor and British fighter is 3-2 in his last five fights, and has wins over Frank Trigg and Joey Villasenor during that run.

“I’m looking forward to the fight. I’m focusing hard on fixing my mistakes,” Wallhead was quoted saying in a press release from the promotion. “I think the opponent has very good style and is coming off a big win. My goals are to keep improving and to put on a better performance next time.”

Betorangal (14-7) scored a stoppage win over Carlos Eduardo Rocha in his last outing, after losing by unanimous decision to Mukhamed Aushev in June. The French fighter is 4-1 in his last five scraps.

“I am happy to fight in one of the best MMA organisations in the world, and certainly in Europe,” said Betorangel . “It is an honour for me to take part in this incredible fight at BAMMA 14. To fight Jim Wallhead, who is one of the top UK fighters of this weight division, is exactly what I want to be doing…fighting top fighters. When I take a fight I am always well prepared mentally and very determined to win. Jim is a tough and well-rounded guy and it won’t be an easy fight, but I will go hard for sure.”

BAMMA has also confirmed that middleweight Matt Howard will fight Harry ‘Mad Mac’ McLeman at the December 14th event.
